Top 5 Upcoming Anime Sequels (Spring 2020)

What makes anime fans impatient is almost always an upcoming sequel and we have an awful lot of anime sequels coming up this year.

Let’s address a few of them that are right around the corner.

You might have already watched them or at least heard about them. Either way, they are all worth watching and now that the sequels are going to be here in a couple of weeks. It might be a good idea to pick them up.

There won’t be major spoilers in this post. Just the synopsis and a general view of that anime.

Let’s jump right in!!!

1-Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai?: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen

English Name: Kaguya-sama: Love is War 2nd Season (Kaguya Wants to be Confessed To: The

Geniuses' War of Love and Brains 2nd Season)

Release date: April 11

Miyuki and Kaguya are both the top students at a prestigious Academy. Miyuki is even ranked nationally, he is respected by both the teachers and his friends. Eventually, he ends up becoming the student council president.

Accompanying him is the vice president Kaguya, she happens to be the eldest daughter of a crazy rich family.

The whole school regards them as the perfect couple and even feels jealous of them...Little do they know about the actual reality of their relationship. Both of them have feelings for each other, but they refuse to be the first one to confess them.

In other words, this is a war to see who confesses first.

General view

What makes this anime stand out is the fact that it’s different from your average high school romance anime.

It’s because the Student council room is a war zone. And the ones going face to face with each other happen to be mutant prodigies, yet normal students at the same time.

When all is said and done, who would have won?

2-Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Kan

English name: My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU 3

Release date: April 10th

Hikigaya is a paranoid high school student, ignored and hated by everyone. He is also a genius at deciphering the true tendencies of people. He somehow gets talked into joining the Volunteer Service club. There he meets a beautiful but a little socially cold girl.

Now, Hikigaya has to help solve various social and psychological problems and to everyone’s surprise, he turns out to be pretty good at this.

And slowly but surely he begins to see a world, he had never seen before.

General view

The upcoming sequel is basically the third season of this anime. The first one aired back in 2013, the second season came out two years later.

It’s already been 5 years since the release of the second season. Even though it’s just a psychological slice of life anime. Now that we are finally getting the sequel, the hype is real.

Well, that just shows that some anime are different from the masses.

3-Shokugeki no Souma: Gou no Sara

English name: Food Wars: The Fifth plate

Release date: April 11th

The story begins with a 15 year old boy named Yukihira Soma, who aims to one day surpass his father as a chef. Ever since he was just a child, he had been dead set on achieving this goal.

However, little does he know that there is an actual academy for future cooking prodigies.

This academy is basically a warzone where only those with talent gather around to devour each other. He gets there and realizes that things aren’t going to go as smoothly as he thought they would.

General view

So far we have had four seasons of Food Wars. This one will be the final one.

This anime can even be called a creative masterpiece. I can only imagine the level of research the creator of food wars must have done in putting this series together.

Furthermore, the execution of those concepts as well as the story make Food wars a roller coaster of Inspiration, wonder, knowledge, and slightly ecchi scenes.

4-Fruits Basket 2nd season

English name: Oh, this one was already in English.

Release date: April 7th

A teenage girl named Tooru lives in a tent because of some family circumstances. Her mother died and that left a big void in her heart.

However, even though life hasn’t been nice to her. She continues to live her life cheerfully and share her stories with a picture of her mother that she had always cherished.

Be that as it may, she had no idea that the place where she has set up her tent is private property. The owners find her soon enough.

And just like that Tooru’s journey in discovering the sinister secrets of the Souma family, begins.

General view

Fruits Basket has been around for almost two decades now. The original series aired back in 2001. Last year, it received a remake and now we about to get a sequel to the remake.

If I were to describe this anime in a few words, I’d say that it is a compilation of sweet empathetic moments between some emotionally broken characters.

5-Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen 2nd Season

English name: Ascendance of a Bookworm 2nd Season

Release date: April 5th

Urano Motosu is obsessed with reading books, be it science, arts, geography, religion …. You name it, she wants to read them all. But before she could ever do that, she died. In her final breaths, she prayed the following prayer,

“May I be able to read all kinds of books in my next life, too”

So, she dies and then gets reincarnated as a five year old girl in another world, quite possibly in the medieval era. And thus, her ascendance as a bookworm in this new world begins.

General view

The first season of this anime just recently ended a few months ago and fans loved it!

The Isekai genre is filled with all kinds of overused clichés, this anime was a little different, that’s why it stood out and people liked it.

So these were the top 5 upcoming anime sequels that’ll be airing next month (April)

That’s all!!!
